National Hotrod Reunion

National Hotrod Reunion

This weekend it was York Raceway’s annual National Hotrod Reunion meeting and the weekend got off to a good start when I was asked to walk around the pits for an hour or 2 taking photos of Voodoo Tuesday (who was due to be performing in the bar on the Sunday evening) posing with hotrods, race cars and anyone else who asked us for a photo. I wasn’t really sure what to expect at first, as I didn’t have much information beforehand, but she was a pleasure to work with & it was a relaxed shoot right from the start. We got some nice photos and we had a good laugh to boot, what more can you ask for?!

The track action was just as good, with plenty of variety and close racing in every class. Sunday also gave us the 37th annual Street Racer Championship with £1000 up for grabs for the fastest street-legal car and there were all kinds of cars entered, with American muscle taking on Japanese technology in the form of a Nissan GT-R. Ultimately the final boiled down to a shootout between the “Bootlegger” Camaro and a seriously quick Dutton, with the latter taking the win.

Moving into Monday, the weather forecast was very much 50/50 in terms of whether or not it would rain and when we arrived at the track, things were certainly damp… Thankfully we found a motorhome to shelter in (Thanks for your hospitality Daz, Kara & Hollie!) until the early showers had passed and then we signed on & had a look out onto the start line. Unfortunately the changeable conditions meant that there wasn’t a huge amount running so we stuck it out until around 1:30pm and headed for home.

This is just a selection of my favourite images. If you’re looking for specific photos and can’t see them here, please try our Facebook page for the full gallery.

We’ve also compiled a list of every car that’s covered the quarter mile in 8.99 seconds or less since we started going back in 2007, you can take a look here.
