FIA European Finals 2016
We make no secret that the FIA European Finals is our favourite event of the season – with the sensation of a combined 16,000bhp being unleashed down the track and the smell of nitro hanging in the air, it really does take a lot of beating!!
When you add into that all the other classes that run (MSA Pro Modified, Pro Stock, the list is endless) it really is a fantastic day out.
This time around, the event was made even better by the return of the Rat Trap altered & the Bradford’s Topolino altered – having already been put through their paces at Dragstalgia. Unfortunately the meeting was not to have a happy ending for the Topolino, after suffering catastrophic engine damage during the night show (if you’ve never seen the night show at the Euro Finals, you really must make the effort to get there, it’s amazing!).
Another nice surprise was the last-minute flypast from the Red Arrows, as they made their way back to base from another display. Also in the sky was the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster, which is always an absolute pleasure to witness.
Finally, a big thank you to Bob Molden for the guided tour of his Pro ET “White Noise” Peugeot 205 – it was a pleasure to learn some of the history of the car I’ve seen at various meetings since 2008!
